Straight from the Heart...

“It is obvious that this has been the most shocking piece of news in many years. This is not only a loss to IMRB but to the entire industry. Ramesh was one of the pioneers and a true leader.

“My personal association goes back to 1984 when he used to visit IMRB Delhi often, after having taken over the reins of the organisation. I was a mere SRE while he was the GM. Despite this difference in levels, it was great fun working with him. It was rewarding both personally and professionally.

“During this one year or so I learnt some very important lessons in life which still stand me in good stead years later. For this I shall remain eternally grateful to Ramesh. He was an older brother in many ways.”

“Friends and colleagues at IMRB, I want to offer mycondolences to you on the death of Ramesh. The newscame as a great shock to me. I first met Ramesh in the days of MRB annual conferences back in the 1980’s. He was a real research enthusiast, always on the look outfor new ideas and new techniques which could help todevelop not just IMRB but also the reputation ofMarket Research in India.”

John O’ Brien
Chairman – BMRB International

“It is unimaginable that the life of a young, energetic person,a leader of a large and successful organisation can beended so abruptly and prematurely. That Ramesh was a lovely person who endeared himself to everyone makes it even more difficult to accept his death... We at MBL, alwayslooked upon him as a leader of our industry in India and will feel his loss always.”

Jenny Abraham
MBL – Research & Consultancy Group (P) Ltd.

“Many of us hold fond memories of Ramesh, who was always a delight to meet and a thorough professional. He was one of the research world’s true gentlemen and a wonderful person to work with.”

Robert Meyers

“I’m now based in Singapore and it takes time for news to trickle in. I’m stunned to hear that Ramesh is gone and that one is no longer going to have the chance of meeting him and having an animated discussion with him. My heart goes out to Rubina and to their son. And my thoughts turn inward to the many occasions when I’ve been with Ramesh. I will treasure the memory and will mourn the passing of a friend and a gentleman.”

C.K. Sharma

“Let me tell you my two most lasting memories of Ramesh. First, I remember that he asked me about a business issue concerning the network that for confidentiality reasons I could not answer candidly. I gave him a truthful, but evasive answer. When the issue was announced publicly, I asked Jyoti Singh to please explain to Ramesh why I had to answer as I did. He provided in return a very understanding answer. There are many who take personally business issues. Ramesh knew the difference.

“Second, I remember my last few hours in India in 1998. In any event, Ramesh was a charming host, laughing, asking questions, trying to gain insights. He will be missed.

“Please convey to his family and IMRB colleagues that he was a man appreciated and respected by people around the world. He will be missed.”

“Ramesh Thadani was a pleasure and a privilege to know – a true professional and always a gentleman in everything he did. He is a great loss to the industry he gave so much to – and of course to his friends. I shall miss him.”

“Bright, enthusiastic, serious, commit- ted, hardwor king – passionate about research. That’s Ramesh. He was my fir st colleague friend from my day s at Clarion, clearly the blue-eyed person in the team.”

Ashoke Bijapurkar

“I knew Ramesh, not too closely, but for long. I was a business acquaintance. I was shocked onhearing the news. More so because of the cruel suddenness. I do recall meetings and chats, comments and views which wedid share. I will always rememberhis sense of honour and simplicity. And his shy smile.”

Subhas Chakravarty

“I have affectionate memories of a true professional who stood for strong principles at all times; and yet, he was such an approachable human being, always listened, always had words of wisdom.”
